Since the One Solution conference in Oslo last summer, One Solution leadership has been busy finishing past projects, making progress in ongoing endeavors and starting exciting new adventures. Aaron and Lila Turner and Mara Gleason and Eirik Olsen spent the past weekend together catching up and making plans.

Aaron and Mara at EO London

Aaron and Mara are fresh from speaking at the Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s London Global University, subtitled Shaken, not Stirred. The pair’s talk – “Mind is the Gap, a New Understanding is the Bridge” – introduced the fact that there are principles behind the mind and that understanding those principles is the solution to common business pitfalls. Part of creating a better world is enabling business owners to create work environments where people can thrive.

Entrepreneur’s Organization is a Global business network of more than 12,000 leading entrepreneurs in 160 chapters and 50 countries. Founded in 1987 by a group of young entrepreneurs, it enables business owners to learn from each other, leading to greater business success and an enriched personal life.

Aaron is making progress with Shaul Rosenblatt and Gill Best on an initiative to introduce One Solution to the House of Lords in an effort to promote peace and reconciliation. The trio have held a second round of discussions and they report promising feedback. Stay tuned for more information coming from these developments.

Eirik reports that the library of video highlights generated by the Oslo conference is nearing completion and should be posted soon at www.onesolutionevents.com.

One Solution leadership – along with a stable of volunteers – is applying for a $100 million grant. Titled 100&Change, the grant is offered by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to fund a single proposal that will make measurable progress toward solving a significant problem. The foundation is asking for a bold proposal that promises real progress toward solving a critical problem of our time. The deadline is in early October and the foundation’s decision is anticipated some time around the end of 2016.

“Working toward this grant has been yet another reminder that people are so inspired to give of themselves and their time in order to help the world,” Mara said. “The volunteers that have been helping me have been such an incredible resource. I feel a part of something uniquely powerful.

“Whether we win the grant or not, the wheels have been set in motion…One Solution is coming.”

The process has highlighted some important realizations for the One Solution leadership, Eirik said.

“One of the things we are learning quick is that to make a global shift you need a lot of people, and a lot of horsepower, and that takes a lot of clarity. In other words, the bigger the project, the more we need to understand the principles that One Solution points toward. One of them being, how do we give our hearts and souls into a project like this, but keep our sanity, well-being and energy? How do we not get overwhelmed but see clear next steps? We hope to share more of this in the coming weeks and months!”
